Raising Litter Mates

You can not imagine the anxiety I am going through as we await the results of Jordan's biopsies collected early last week. The samples were sent off to an excellent pathologist back east. We weren't expecting results over the weekend, but we received them.

Jordan's Endoscopy Results

It has been over two (2) months of unsuccessful treatment, and about a week since awaiting results from the endoscope. Sunday afternoon my phone rings - it's the Veterinarian's Office with Jordan's results.

The great news is that there is no sign of cancer. After hearing this, I had tears of joy streaming down my face!! They are suspecting a severe case of Inflammatory Bowel Disease - more specifically Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis ( I believe that is what he called it). I spoke to a doctor that I had not dealt with before, but none the less, the results were excellent.

Jordan's attending doctor will be in sometime today to review results and hopefully get her on the road to recovery. From my understanding, this condition isn't easy to treat, and may involve some food trials, along with medication changes.

So far Jordan has been doing well. She isn't eating on her own yet, I am having to force feed her Recovery Formula ( Medi Cal/Royal Canin) and she is being a great little patient for me. She has kept her food down since Wednesday, but her back end isn't so happy. She has watery diarrhea again, and some days her stomach is quite noisy and unhappy sounding. Now that we have ruled out cancer, and she has been diagnosed with a severe case of IBD, there is hope to get her better!

I will wait for the doctors to figure out the new plan of attack, and start her on the road to recovery. I'll keep the site updated, wish us luck!!
